Retro Fused Glass Pendant 1

The glass in this pendant was created by my friend May. I bought this glass before I started making my own glass several years ago. I thought I would wire wrap it and offer it as a beautiful pendant. This pendant is wire wrapped with nontarnishing shiny silver wire so you don't have to worry about it tarnishing.

Dichroic glass is an art glass that derived from NASA when they were trying to make face shields for astronauts. Glass is put in a vacuum chamber and bombarded with different mineral elements to get different colors. Dichroic glass is the most expensive glass on the market. As artists... we melt this glass with colored and clear glass of the same expanding rate. Not all glass is the same. Glass must expand at the same rate to be fused properly. Dichroic glass comes in many different patterns and colors. We cut the glass and even stack it to melt into one piece. After it is melted... we shape it and melt it again. Some people fused the glass 2-5 times... depending on the effect they are trying to achieve.
